Dr. Joaquin Wallace is a dynamic and engaging speaker. As an educator, community advocate, visionary, and author, he draws from his personal experience to deliver influential and invoking keynote presentations related to leadership and coaching, personal motivation, non-profit program development and implementation, as well as financial wealth building and education.
Dr. Wallace’s life course inspired him to establish Project Transition, Inc. This welfare-to-work program empowers the "working poor" and provides access, opportunity, and real-life experience to be competitive within the "white-collar" workforce. Project Transition has benefited more than 1,000 program participants in Alameda County.

A Welfare to Work Program that Works
This book looks at the Welfare to Work from a practitioner's perspective, thereby identifying tools and resources needed to develop and implement a successful Welfare to Work program targeting African American women. To frame this study, both quantitative and qualitative analysis, in the form of primary and secondary research, were used in collaboration with surveys distributed to previous program participants and participating community service providers. All program clients who participated in the written surveys were participants of Project Transition, Inc., a community-based organization located in Alameda Social Services Department to provide job training, development, and placement for Welfare to Work participants residing in Northern Alameda County from 1998-2003.
Furthermore, this paper will demonstrate that those resources are critical for clients not only to participate and graduate from Welfare to Work programs but also, most importantly, to sustain employment. This program ultimately positions graduating clients with skills to achieve self-sufficiency.
